I compared four popular game boosters on price, trials, refunds and device support, and explain when a ping reducer actually helps. My top pick for most players is GearUP.

Looking for the **best game booster to lower ping**? Game boosters, also called ping reducers or gaming VPNs, send your game traffic along a faster, steadier route to the server. When the route is your problem, they can cut ping and stop packet loss. When the problem is your Wi-Fi or a busy home connection, no booster will help.

I compared four of the most popular boosters: GearUP, ExitLag, NoPing and WTFast. I went through each pricing page, the free trial and refund terms, and supported devices, and checked every price on 27 October 2026 in US dollars. This is desk research, not a lab test: I haven't measured each booster's effect on my own ping, and results depend heavily on where you live and which servers you play on.

## Quick picks: the best game boosters

1. [GearUP](https://gearup.sjv.io/xJanDO): **best overall, and the best for console and mobile players.** Windows, Android and iOS apps, consoles through a router, a built-in ping test and a 3-day free trial.
1. **ExitLag: best for playing with friends.** Duo and Squad plans bring the price down to $2.35 per player a month, with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
1. **NoPing: best budget pick.** $2.99 a month, or $16.99 for a year, and a one-day trial without a card.
1. **WTFast: best for long-time PC players.** A long-established gamers' private network with a 3-day free trial, but the highest price here.

**My top pick: GearUP Booster** One booster for PC, mobile and console, with a ping test that shows your real ping before and during boosting. Try it on your own games for 3 days. [Try GearUP free for 3 days](https://gearup.sjv.io/xJanDO)

## Game boosters compared at a glance

*Game booster prices compared (USD, checked 27 October 2026)*

| Booster | Monthly | Best long-term price | Free trial | Money-back | Devices |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| GearUP | $4.49–$9.99 (US App Store) | $52.99/year (about $4.42/mo) | 3 days, payment method needed | Only in EU, UK, Switzerland, Korea | Windows, Android, iOS; consoles via router |
| ExitLag | $7.50 (1 player) | $4.48/mo on an annual promo; $2.35/player on Squad | None listed | 7 days | Windows, Android, iOS |
| NoPing | $2.99 | $16.99/year ($1.40/mo) | 1 day, no card | Not stated on pricing page | Windows, Android, iOS |
| WTFast | $13.37 | $79.99/year ($6.67/mo) | 3 days, first-time subscribers | Not stated on pricing page | PC, 1 device at a time; routers listed |

GearUP doesn't publish prices on its website, so its row uses the official US App Store listing. ExitLag's annual price is a limited-time 40% discount (with 90 bonus days) on a $90 list price. WTFast adds VAT where it applies.

## Will a game booster actually lower your ping?

Before you pay for any booster, work out where your lag comes from. Here's a quick guide:

*When a game booster helps, and when it doesn't*

| Symptom | Likely cause | Will a booster help? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| High ping only on servers in another region | A long or badly routed path to that region | Often, this is what boosters are built for |
| Random ping spikes or packet loss in one game | Congestion somewhere on the route | Often, but test on a wired connection first |
| High ping in every game and on speed tests | Wi-Fi, your router or your internet plan | Rarely, so fix your home network first |
| Lag when someone else streams or downloads | Your home bandwidth is full | No, so use QoS on your router or a wired connection |
| Low FPS or stuttering | Your PC or console's performance | No, because that isn't a network problem |

The simple test: use a booster's ping test or your game's network stats, then play the same server with boosting on and off. If your direct route is already good, a booster can't beat it, and the extra hop can add a few milliseconds.

## How I compared these game boosters

- **Real price.** The monthly price, the best long-term price and whether that depends on a promo or a group plan.
- **Trial and refunds.** You can only know if a booster helps by trying it on your own connection, so a fair trial matters most.
- **Devices.** Many players switch between PC, phone and console.
- **Billing traps.** Auto-renewal, card requirements and when you need to cancel.
- **Reputation.** Trustpilot and store ratings, and whether the company encourages reviews.

## 1. GearUP: best overall game booster

[GearUP](https://gearup.sjv.io/xJanDO) routes each game's traffic through its own network using what it calls Adaptive Intelligent Routing, and leaves the rest of your internet traffic alone. It supports 3,000+ games and claims 8M+ monthly players. It also partners with games such as PUBG and Escape from Tarkov, and with ASUS, whose selected routers bundle GearUP.

What sets it apart is device coverage. There are apps for Windows, Android and iOS. PlayStation, Xbox and Switch can be boosted through a supported router or GearUP's HYPEREV gaming router. A built-in ping test shows your current ping and the expected improvement, which is exactly what you need during the 3-day trial. Extras include LAN Play for local-network games over the internet and automatic Twitch Drops.

### Where GearUP falls short

- **No public prices.** You see PC prices inside the app. In the US App Store, a month costs $4.49 to $9.99 and a year $52.99 to $66.99.
- **Trial billing.** The trial needs a payment method, which may be authorised for up to about a year of service, and auto-renews. Cancel at least 3 days before the billing date.
- **Refunds.** Purchases are non-refundable unless you're in the EU, UK, Switzerland or South Korea, where the law gives you a cancellation right.
- **Ratings.** Trustpilot shows 4.7, but GearUP invites reviews and has offered free VIP for 5-star Microsoft Store reviews. The App Store rating is 4.1.
- **Consoles cost extra.** The HYPEREV router starts at $62 excluding tax, and you still need a membership.

**Test GearUP on your own games** Run the ping test, play your usual servers with boosting on and off, and keep it only if your ping drops. [Start the GearUP free trial](https://gearup.sjv.io/xJanDO)

## 2. ExitLag: best for playing with friends

ExitLag's pricing is the clearest of the four, and its group plans are the best deal here if you play with others. A single player pays $7.50 a month, $6.25 a month quarterly, or $4.48 a month on the annual plan, which is currently on a 40% promo with 90 bonus days. A Duo plan brings the annual price to $3.12 per player, and a 5-player Squad plan to $2.35 per player a month.

Every plan includes its full feature set (AI optimisation, network analyser, PC boost, multi-internet and traffic shaper) and a 7-day money-back guarantee. Apps cover Windows, Android and iOS, but there's no console support.

**Choose it if** you play with a regular group or want a money-back guarantee. **Skip it if** you play on console.

## 3. NoPing: best budget game booster

NoPing is by far the cheapest: $2.99 a month, $7.99 a quarter or $16.99 for a year, which is $1.40 a month. Its plan includes up to 5 parallel routes, combining connections (such as fibre with 4G), a DNS optimiser and AI routing, plus PC extras like an FPS booster, audio hotkeys and an aim trainer. You can try it for a day without entering a card.

NoPing says it has been running for 10 years and supports 3,000+ games on PC, Android and iOS. Its pricing page doesn't state a refund policy, so use the free day to decide.

**Choose it if** you want the lowest price and a no-card trial. **Skip it if** you need console support.

## 4. WTFast: best for long-time PC players

WTFast is one of the oldest services in this space (its copyright notice goes back to 2009), running its own gamers' private network with 200+ nodes and 1,000+ automatically supported PC games. It costs $13.37 a month, $26.99 every 3 months or $79.99 a year, which works out at $6.67 a month. Each subscription covers one device at a time, and VAT may apply.

There's a 3-day free trial for first-time subscribers. It's the most expensive option here, so it makes most sense if you already know it routes well for your region.

**Choose it if** you play on PC and want a long-established network. **Skip it if** price matters or you play on more than one device.

## Other game boosters worth knowing

LagoFast is another popular option, with apps for PC, Mac, mobile and consoles, plus an FPS booster. Mudfish uses pay-as-you-go credits instead of a subscription. Neither shows prices clearly enough for me to compare them fairly, so check their checkout pages before buying.

## How to lower your ping for free first

- **Plug in a cable.** Wi-Fi interference causes more ping spikes than anything a booster can fix.
- **Pick the closest server region** in your game's settings, unless you have a reason to play elsewhere.
- **Pause downloads and streams** on your network while you play, or enable QoS on your router.
- **Restart your router** and update its firmware if spikes started recently.
- **Then try a booster** if your ping is still high on a specific server or region.

## My verdict: the best game booster in 2026

For most players, [GearUP](https://gearup.sjv.io/xJanDO) is my pick. It covers PC, mobile and console in one service, its ping test makes the free trial genuinely useful, and its network is built for exactly the long-distance routes where boosters help most. Just treat the trial seriously: test with boosting on and off, and cancel at least 3 days before billing if it doesn't help.

If you play with friends on PC or mobile, ExitLag's group plans and 7-day money-back guarantee are the better value. If you just want the cheapest booster, NoPing costs $1.40 a month on its annual plan. WTFast is the established PC choice, if you don't mind paying more.

**Get started with GearUP** Lower ping and fewer spikes on distant servers, on PC, mobile and console. Try it free for 3 days on your own connection. [Try GearUP free](https://gearup.sjv.io/xJanDO)
