Editorial Policy
The rules that keep TapDeals reviews independent, honest about their limits and up to date.
Last updated
TapDeals exists to make software decisions easier — not to make every product look good. These are the commitments behind every review, comparison and guide we publish.
Independence
- Affiliate commission rates never decide scores, verdicts or ranking positions.
- Sponsored placements are always labelled. See our Advertising Disclosure.
- Vendors may point out factual errors, but they can’t approve, edit or veto a verdict.
- Negative findings stay published even if a partnership ends.
Honesty about how we tested
- Every review states whether it’s based on hands-on testing or desk research.
- Only hands-on reviews carry a score. We never claim to have used a product we haven’t.
- Free access or gifted subscriptions are disclosed in the review.
- Images supplied by a vendor or marketplace are credited in their captions.
Balance
- Every review lists meaningful drawbacks alongside strengths, plus who should — and shouldn’t — buy.
- We name credible alternatives, including ones we don’t earn from.
- If sources disagree (for example a marketplace and a vendor quoting different prices), we say so.
Sources and attribution
- We research vendor sites, pricing pages, documentation, marketplace listings and verified buyer reviews.
- We use video reviews only when they show real use of the product, and we skip scripted promotional videos.
- We paraphrase sources rather than copy them, and we never invent quotes, reviewers or ratings.
- We don’t copy ratings from other platforms into our structured data.
Accuracy and updates
- Prices and deal terms show the date they were last checked.
- We recheck deals regularly and update reviews when pricing, features or positioning change meaningfully.
- Corrections are made promptly; significant ones update the review’s “updated” date.
